This commission, in collaboration with Jos Thorne, was to create a multipart work at the Babylonstoren wine estate, and used the language of museum display to tell a layered story of wine and winemaking. Drawing on visual strategies established the Subtle Thresholds exhibition, the works refer to hidden aspects of wine: social histories, additives, elements, geography and chemistry. In so doing the typical wine narrative walkthrough is interrupted by presenting visual complexity and formal and conceptual links that connect different spaces.
